For 1500 years Benedictines have gathered in their monastery chapels as many as eight times a day to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Sunday Evening Vespers for Advent are sung in the first half of this recording, with Compline (Night Prayer) following in the second half. The Clyde sisters sit in two choirs facing one another across the center of the chapel, uniting their voices for the antiphons and alternating choirs for the psalm verses. An especially beautiful Compline hymn, "Night Blessings (Psalm 134)" by Conception Abbey's Fr. Hugh Tasch, OSB, is sung and also performed by a piano and flute duet.
